We’ve added three major updates to the platform: an AI-powered tool that instantly generates supporting text for assembly diagrams & illustrations—just click a button, and StepAlong writes it for you., Product Information section for essential technical details, and double the language support for broader accessibility.
Generate Step Instructions from Attached Images
Many companies rely on image-based instructions, a practice that has become almost standard in flat-pack assembly guides, inspired by IKEA’s approach to reducing translation costs and facilitate distribution across different markets. However, some end-users may struggle to interpret symbols and diagrams without accompanying text to guide them through each step, a concern addressed by the European Accessibility Act (EAA), that ensures products and services are inclusive. Additionally, describing a diagram with words is challenging and requires consistency, even with the help of AI tools like ChatGPT.
With StepAlong, adding instructions or supporting text to a diagram is now quick and effortless. When you have added your assembly diagrams & images to the step, just click the “Generate from Image” button. Our AI technology analyzes the images, identifies the product’s context based on the listed materials and tools, and generates clear, precise descriptions in seconds. This enables companies to improve the accessibility of their guides without having to recreate them from scratch.
New Product Information Section in the StepAlong Player
We’ve introduced a Product Information section in the StepAlong Player, enabling companies to provide essential technical details such as product dimensions, materials, power requirements, safety standards, and operational specifications. This section goes beyond simply listing facts—it plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance, safety, usability, and overall customer satisfaction.
This feature lets companies manage multiple SKUs and product models in one instruction set, avoiding duplicate instructions. Updates are easier, and product identifiers from the Product Information section appear on the StepAlong Player’s cover screen, helping distributors and endusers quickly identify the correct product in the Instruction Center. This improves organization, reduces errors, and enhances the user experience.

14 New Languages Added to the Platform – Now Supporting 30 in Total
With new European Union regulations like the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), ensuring that product instructions are available in the official language of each distribution country has become more important than ever.
In response to this, many of our clients have requested expanded language support to increase the reach of their product instructions. We’ve added 14 new languages to the platform, so now StepAlong supports the 30 following ones:
- English
- Spanish,
- French
- German
- Portuguese
- Greek
- Italian
- Dutch
- Polish
- Swedish
